Today is National Teacher Day and it lands during Teacher Appreciation Week. The Ohio Department of Education reminds us that, “this year’s Teacher Appreciation Week finds our state's educators navigating a new set of challenges and showcasing their ever-present instructional resilience, ingenuity and creativity.”
Ohio State University Extension, Lucas County, is honored to work in partnership with many schools and teachers across the county. We miss working alongside teachers in classrooms from pre-schools to high schools to afterschool programs, but we know both our meaningful work educating is continuing through different methods! Educating students this year is drastically different than in the past but no less important. Every day we see teachers in our community working hard to reach and support their students and their families.
Similar to our teachers, while our office building is closed, our staff continues to work diligently to serve Lucas County and be available to our clientele and families. We want to help support their work during this time, as always. For example, 4-H Youth Development is offering virtual tours on Fridays, use the Horticulture Hotline for garden-related questions, follow programming on local gardening and email financial questions to plan for present and future economic well-being. If you are a teacher in Lucas County and have any questions about resources, please contact our staff here https://lucas.osu.edu/about/staff
While the words “thank you” seem minimal, we share our gratitude for all the teachers in Lucas County.
