Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) Educator Day is celebrated annually on the Wednesday of FCCLA Week. Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is a national Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) for students in Family and Consumer Sciences education in public and private school through grade 12. FCCLA offers intra-curricular resources and opportunities for students to pursue careers that support families.

Family and Consumer Sciences, founded as home economics, draws from broad and diverse disciplines to develop and provide content and educational programs. FCS professionals help individuals and families develop essential skills to successfully live and work in a complex world. Professionals in the field are uniquely qualified on many critical issues affecting individuals and families, such as maintaining a healthy lifestyle, wisely managing personal and family finances, and creating supportive relationships with family members, friends, and co-workers.  They are located nationwide in a variety of practice settings, including secondary schools, universities, government agencies, and businesses.

OSU Extension, Lucas County FCS Educator, Patrice Powers-Barker wrote a blog on A Time for Learning: Black History Month and FCS Educator Day to share the value of continued learning that can happen because of annual remembrances and celebrations. It's a great day to thank an FCS Educator!
