If you or someone you know qualifies for SNAP EBT benefits (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), the card can be used to purchase food-producing plants and seeds (vegetables, herbs and fruits) for use in home or community gardens. Do you, your neighbors, or your faith-based community have an interest in gardening? Consider starting a commuity garden or growing extra produce for donation to local food banks and food pantries. 

Lucas County Extension in collaboration with Toledo GROWs, Lucas Soil and Water Conservation District, USDA and Metroparks Toledo are hosting an evening workshop for commuity gardeners on Tuesday March 20th, 2018. The Cultivating Community: Gardens for Good workshop will be from 4 - 8pm at the Elanor Kahle Senior Center, 1315 Hillcrest Ave, Toledo, Ohio. The cost per individual is $15 and includes dinner and materials. For groups, after the first registration of $15 all additional registrants will be $12.
