    During the spring 2020 social distancing of COVID-19, OSU Extension Lucas County is fortunate to partner with the Ebeid Neighborhood Center and the Urban Agriculture Alliance of Lucas County to connect once a month by a call-in show. This call-in show will highlight the opportunities and problem-solve the challenges related to gardening. This is open to all - whether you grow in a community garden or the yard or in containers. New gardeners and those who are just interested in learning more are welcome.

    Have questions about trees, lawn, garden? Want to know how to test your soil? Every found an insect, and wondered what it was? The Horticulture Hotline is here to help. Residents can call or email with questions and samples and this service is being done remotely. As a result of COVID19, the office is closed.   Hotline hours are Mondays and Wednesdays, April - October, and by virtual appointment (phone or zoom) throughout the year. The Hotline is staffed by Master Gardener Volunteers and by the AgNR Educator.

    The statewide OSU Extension Food Preservation Team is offering live “Office Hours” events to be held bi-weekly through the end of July.  As we expect home food preservation to be a big topic this year, we really want to get people started off right, even if we can’t meet them face-to-face. Each of these Tuesday sessions will be from 4:00 to 5:00 pm.  Sessions will start with a short presentation and the remainder of the time will be for open Q&A.  The presentations will be recorded and posted for those who could not attend live.

    This program teaches invaluable information about how to survive in the “real world”. Participants will be transformed (temporarily) into a 27 year old with a partner and kids. They'll get to chose from 10 careers and then make financial decisions ranging from housing to entertainment. We’ll talk about the importance of education and training in finding a great and fulfilling job, along with sound choices when spending your money.     Spend the evening discovering trees online. With over 100 different species of trees at Woodlawn, it can be tricky to tell them apart! On the tree identification walks, participants will be focusing on the subtle but easy cues that lead directly to identifying a tree. Learn techniques on diagnosing some common (and maybe not so common) tree problems. Which ones need immediate attention and which ones are just cosmetic and won't compromise the health of the tree?  2020 Dates and Times:
